Here are some priorities for Google to keep in mind while they evolve and expand their origins in the social space.

  1. Build on what was achieved – As we know, Google+ has achieved a lot in this first few months of release. It is because of being unique and bringing our sharp features for the end user. Google has to build on it by constantly innovating the traditional social media forms and come up with unique and interesting features.
  2. Be as fast as you can – With the social media giant, Facebook keeping its eyes open to knock Google+ at any point, Google has to be extremely sensitive and fast in releasing its features. Now it is a matter of time in who is coming up first with a unique set of features.
  3. Complete the product evolving phase – Right Google+ is called as a feature just as Gmail was called as Gmail Beta. As we know, at this point Google+ lacks many of the features that Facebook has.   6. Attract celebrities – The main reason for the success of micro blogging giant twitter was its ability to attract celebrities and offer a channel for them to interact with their fans. Twitter was able to carve a niche in social space irrespective of high competition in only because of celebrities like actors and politicians. While Facebook do not have this capability, Google+ definitely has a chance to garner this.
  7. Innovate revenue methods – Revenue in social media is always one of the problematic subjects. Both Facebook and Twitter has challenges in converting their user base in to a revenue stream. While this is the least bothered area for Google+ at this point, they must have a long term strategy to approach this problem in a different way. Google has always been successful in creating revenue stream from its free products, it is extremely important to have a long term goal to make it realize in the social space.

Integrate social data in search – Social interactions in social media websites, independent websites and blogs have tons of authority determination facts when it comes to SEO. Users are best in determining the quality of a website. While social data like sharing, liking and +1ing are least considered as a search signal, Google being a search provider must certainly take this as an advantage and incorporate into their system.
